However the scale of the challenge he faces can be seen from a bitter labour dispute taking place in ‘the heart of Dixie’. Despite fifty years of civil rights legislation, sportswear workers employed by the New Era Cap Company in Mobile, Alabama feel that little has changed in their workplace.
