This research paper by the Scottish Centre for Employment Research examines the relationship between learning and union organising in three very different workplaces. The in-depth case studies demonstrate that union-led workplace learning can encompass work-related and non-work-related learning and that both types can benefit learners and their employers. They also show that unionled learning can have a positive effect on union organisation as a whole.
This paper, along with the research paper by the Working Lives Research Institute, 'Union learning, union recruitment and organising' will make a valuable contribution to the ways in which unions integrate their learning and organising strategies.
