Sheila

I read your article with interest.

It seems to me that it would be fruitful to bring together union activists and engaged academics on a regular basis. A journal would be one way, but what about some joint action around campaigns that link together their interests?

One example could be the 'Strangers Into Citizens' campaign for regularisation of 'illegal migrants'. Trade unionists hardly need any instruction in the pitfalls of allowing approx 400,000 irregular migrants to subsist in low-paid labour, with no rights of representation. Similarly, many academics are concerned with 'globalisation' and modes of political resistance..here's a classic example on their doorstep.

The 'Strangers into Citizens' campaign is calling for regional groups to support it. We could try and form some networks to help???
