Re:Out of Time – why Britain needs a new approach to working-time flexibility - 03/05/2006 16:39 We definitely need more practical ways of dealing with time demands. Too many detrimental effects arise on staff when business needs become inflexible and dictate working hours that encroach on time needed for rest/ learning/ family/ health …etc.
The knock-on effect of this is sickness absence, which then puts higher demands on those left to keep the business running. The TUC should help to promote and educate both staff and management of the benefits of reliable attendance and how best to accommodate non-work time demands. Policies need to be progressive and recognize the complexities in modern lives, with due recognition of good time management under severe constraints.

PS: I am also keen on 'academic' issues and would welcome discussion with someone open to a 'sea-changing' idea... it is about conducting a constructive feasibility study and identifying the ramifications of the idea and how, if ever, it could be implemented.
