Mr
What a shame to see such a wonderful university, one that boasts to be the UKs favourite providing an exciting approach to higher education in beautiful surroundings, treat its staff with such contempt and its current and future students with false statements of some of the best quality of teaching in the UK. After almost four years of studying part-time whilst working full-time am I to be denied my Masters degree because I study a subject which is politically disparaged by management? This wonderful educational journey I have been blessed to experience may no longer be available for our future children.

The destruction of the discipline of Industrial Relations will contribute in the short term to growing inequality an inequitable distribution of earnings and wealth in Britain and elsewhere. This growing inequality contributes to the decline in democratic institutions and eventually will contribute to declining economic prosperity. By the time you recognize the problem, it may be too late to fix. An extremely bad idea that demonstrates profound ignorance of public policy.

Dr. ; Techical University of Munich;
What a undemocratic decision and procedure! The closure of Keele's IR department would be a terrible loss not only to the academic discipline in the UK but also to the entire IR community worldwide. You have my full support.

Current part-time MA student
I find the proposal by Keele deeply disturbing and totally unwarranted. I was only able to undertake studying for an MA because I had done the Keele certificate in IR, this enabled me to go forward to do postgraduate study. As a trade union activist with little academic background the courses on offer from the IR/HRM department afford the opportunity of widening participation for mature students, who under normal circumstances would not be able to study at this level. In my opinion it is a case of 'subject cleansing' and should be resisted vigorously. Where will the future generations of trade unionists be able to benefit from higher education to the high standards on offer from the excellent staff in the IR/HRM department???

Men and Women have studied long and hard to defend workers and without the knowledge that these type of courses bring the task would be an impossible one.
Remember the saying "When the last law of the land fall's - Who will defend us then"?
It's a must that these type of courses are available for all - NO COURSE CUTS AT KEELE.
I hope to return to Keele next year to carry on with further study.

This short-sighted decision must be reversed! Keele's distance learning programme has done a wonderful job over many years.
